Location Manager (Medstead)

Summary

The Location Manager operates the overall success of their location.  This position oversees the day-to-day operations of their retail location, and co-ordinates monthly and yearly procedures such as budgeting and product forecasting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Location Operations

  • Oversee overall operations of location including office, equipment and warehouse maintenance, operational employees, product logistics for location and support sales activities in cooperation with Regional Manager
  • Develop annual location budgets for operations, maintenance, equipment in conjunction with the Regional Manager
  • Oversee Accounts Receivable for the location 
  • Participate in the development of annual sales budget and forecasting for the location.
  • Contribute to corporate strategic planning for location ensuring a profitable location
  • Ensure inter-office communications on appropriate subjects
  • Coordinate custom application and equipment – including getting field maps in order, loading product, scheduling equipment operators
  • Oversee and manage ordering of product and ensure it is recorded into the system
  • Oversee the management of product inventory. 
  • Work with Account Managers on product forecasting, going through sales orders to keep them current, and tracking and identifying the discrepancies, in compliance with company direction.
  • Submit appropriate reports to Regional Manager
  • Ensure equipment is well maintained and in good repair
  • Establish a location wish list for capital purchases and assist the leadership team with asset purchases for location
  • Oversee location OH&S standards including ensuring awareness & compliance among all location team members of all standards 
  • Maintain safe, clean, and efficient work environment for our employees and customers. 
  • Keep location facilities in compliance with AWSA warehouse standard 
  • Be familiar with all location reporting requirements and ensure completion
  • Oversee and ensure location grounds and facilities are clean and tidy 
  • Participate & Contribute to regularly scheduled team calls and individual coaching sessions with Regional Manager
    • Train, mentor, and oversee temporary operations staff
    • Develop and manage the locations community sponsorship budget

Management of Key Accounts

  • Manage new customers that come to the location and keep that as an account until re-assigned
  • Work with the Regional Manager and Account Manager to determine target account management responsibilities within location customer base
  • Oversee sales function for each assigned account and work toward a proactive and strong professional relationship with each
  • Establish internal resource requirements for each account
  • Ensure timely data entry for accounts into CRM system and ensure customer records are up to date and current.
  • Ensure compliance with company customer management standards
  • Oversee the development of an annual crop plan including annual budget with accounts and ensure appropriate credit is in place for all purchase requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate level of customer service for all customers
  • Ensure proper completion of credit applications
  • Identify and pursue new customer opportunities in line with corporate direction
  • Promote and ensure delivery of Agronomy and Ag Innovation services for assigned customers
  • Assist in agronomy where necessary and appropriate
  • Plan an appropriate level of contact with customers to maintain strong professional relationships
  • Attend appropriate professional and agronomy courses to meet Simplot standards
  • Communicate market information with Regional Manager
  • Understand and be up to date on manufacturer programming and products as it pertains to each of your customers
  • Work to increase sales, profit and market-share through strong professional business relationship
  • Deliver farm inputs directly to customers upon request
  • Attend workshops/training sessions to continually upgrade skills and knowledge
  • Attend manufacturer, distributor and industry meetings and functions as required
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with vendor/supplier representatives

Team Leader

  • Lead and direct location operations and admin team members
  • Ensure that the organization direction is clear & ensure that all reporting team members are aligned
  • Conduct one-on-one bi-annual performance reviews with reporting team members
  • Work to resolve workplace issues/complaints between team members
  • Arbitrate unresolved issues and conflicts between team members when appropriate and when requested
  • Determine job expectations for all location team members
  • Ensure all reporting team members have clearly understand roles, responsibilities, & expectations.
  • Regularly communicate with all team members to determine needs and satisfaction
  • Ensure that training requirements for all team members are met and completed on time

Strategic Planner

  • Ensure that the organizational direction is clearly & that all reporting team members are aligned
  • Work to ensure a relevant and up to date understanding of industry and customer trends
  • Consult to the development of annual operations budget in cooperation with Director, Retail
  • Assist with the establishment and ensure understanding of core values, mission and vision

Industry Liaison

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships and large industry network
  • Communicate with designated representatives for manufactures and distributors
  • Learn and upgrade knowledge of new products and product updates on chemical, fertilizer, and seed as required
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of key industry people and competitors

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in Agriculture/Agronomy background is preferred
  • Experience in sales is an asset
  • A passion for agriculture, desire to help farmers succeed. 

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs
  • Agri Industry hours – overtime as required
