About Our Role
- Permanent full-time, shift based opportunity with Simplot Bathurst
- Mechanical maintenance role - work with a unique array of food processing fixed-plant & equipment
- 12 hour rotating shifts (4 week roster cycle)
- Wages position - starting base rate of $44.27 p/h + shift allowances + tool allowance of $22.39 per week

Here at Simplot, we're seeking applicants for the full-time, permanent position of Maintenance Fitter to join our team at our newly redeveloped food manufacturing facility, Simplot Bathurst - the home of the Chiko Roll.
Simplot Bathurst employs over 250 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko. An investment of $90 million has recently been completed at the site, transforming Simplot Bathurst into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enabling increased production capacity, and ultimately helping to boost local and export volumes.
What You Will Do
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Lead, the Maintenance Fitter will perform planned & scheduled mechanical maintenance + breakdown activities on a wide range of fixed plant and equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance & Production schedules that support optimisation of plant reliability, improvements related to employee safety, and site continuous improvement (CI) activities.
Working closely with the Production & wider Engineering / Maintenance (incl. Electrical / Planning / Stores etc) teams - this hands on, technical role will provide mechanical expertise to Simplot Bathurst's operations by;
- Identifying faults and performing breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
- Inspecting, testing and maintaining machinery & equipment - food preparation, cutting & sorting equipment, high speed packaging equipment, pumping systems, conveyors etc.
- Working with system diagnostics & fault finding
- Performing general plant and building maintenance work
- Undertaking specific project work upon request
- Performing assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health & Wellbeing + Environmental policies & procedures
- Utilising MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
- Contributing towards site CI activities
About You
With a demonstrated background as a Maintenance Fitter, you will demonstrate the following attributes;
- A 100% commitment to health and safety in the workplace
- Australian recognised mechanical trade certificate e.g. Cert III Engineering - Mechanical, or equivalent
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of food processing equipment (advantageous)
- Experience in servicing and overhauling pumping systems
- Pneumatic & hydraulics experience
- TIG & Stick welding experience with the ability to use workshop equipment e.g. lathes + milling machines
- Proficient in the use of CMMS packages - noting that Simplot utilise MEX
- Competent user in MS Office suite of products
- Strong problem-solving & analytical skills with a high level of verbal & written communication skills
- Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening
