About our role

 

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join our team. This role is an 18-month fixed term contract, covering a period of parental leave. It is an on-site role, based in our plant in Bathurst, known as the ‘Home of ‘Edgell’, producing canned and snacking products. 

 

The role reports into our Senior Plant Accounting Manager and is responsible for the development of product costs, daily reporting of manufacturing efficiencies, month end tasks and reporting. This role would be a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to start a rewarding career in the manufacturing industry or an experienced Cost Accountant, seeking a collaborative and supportive work environment. 
 

What you will do

 

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, month-end activities, product costing (including NPI), and prepare accurate financial and performance reports with variance analysis 
  • Provide financial insight to site operations, support the Plant Accountant, and liaise with system managers to improve processes and maintain data accuracy
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, support financial targets and enhance financial awareness across the business
  • Evaluate the commercial viability of capital and CI proposals and contribute as a business lead in key process improvement projects
  • Promote continuous improvement, support a culture of operational excellence, and uphold company values and leadership standards
  • Ensure compliance with policies and legislation, maintain internal controls, standard costing accuracy, inventory oversight, and complete balance sheet reconciliations
     

About you

 

  • Tertiary qualified (or working towards) in Business or a related discipline 
  • Intermediate skills in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
  • An appreciation of financial information systems
  • Experience with Budget / Long Range Planning process is desirable
  • Strong analytical skills, mathematically proficient 
  • Excellent verbal and written communications, ability to engage with various stakeholders 
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills
