About Our Role

Simplot Australia are seeking applications from suitably certified and experienced candidates for the full-time permanent role of Maintenance Electrician to be based at our Kelso food manufacturing plant.  At Simplot Kelso, we are proud to produce frozen seafood products that form part of our iconic brands such as Birds Eye and I&J .

Reporting to the Team Leader, this role will encompass a day shift roster (may include some weekend work in peak periods + potential shift coverage by agreement) - this is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to demonstrate their high degree of competency in the industrial electrical trade whilst upskilling in a unique environment.

Base hourly rate commences at $40.41 p/h + shift loadings, penalties & allowances (where applicable), with weekly pay.  The successful candidate will be offered development and training opportunities to allow an advance in employment classification.

What You Will Do

Working with a range of unique food processing / manufacturing equipment incl: robotics, high speed packaging equipment, feed line / process plant equipment, gearboxes, motors, metal detectors etc. - duties will include (but not limited to the following);

  • Ensure plant and equipment is maintained per the maintenance schedule, whilst maintaining safety and helping to achieve maximum production output
  • Robotics, PLC and electrically controlled systems fault finding, programming and connections
  • Working in conjunction with other on-site trades (mechanical fitters + contractors) to ensure overall scheduled and breakdown maintenance activities are completed to a high standard of quality
  • Participating in continual improvement processes
  • Undertake required training modules to upskill
  • Application of operational standards and procedures

About You


  • Possess a 100% commitment to safety in the workplace
  • Hold a current NSW Electrical Licence (mandatory)
  • Demonstrated diagnostic, fault finding and trouble shooting skills
  • Experience with fixed plant electrical works
  • Experience in safety & quality systems and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics (advantageous)
  • 3-5 years demonstrated maintenance experience within an FMCG industry plant (highly desirable but not essential)
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability
  • Possess a high level of both written and verbal communication skills in addition to time management skills
  • Intermediate user of Windows-based systems and software
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst being able to work within a team environment
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)
