Continuous Improvement Leader

The Continuous Improvement Leader is responsible for leading Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement projects to improve quality and operational efficiencies while reducing costs and optimizing resources. Applies knowledge of LEAN and Six Sigma processes to support multi-disciplinary improvement processes that require evaluation, planning, implementation and follow up. Leads root- cause analysis, provides analytical and financial analyses /studies, and drives non-capital improvements. Will manage and lead the coordination and management of all defined and/or group-initiated process improvement activities, personnel and other resources involved in the analysis, planning, implementation, documentation and support of operations process improvement projects. This individual identifies opportunities for continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes, blending and bagging and overall plant operations by reviewing organizational performance. Participates in and helps drive Project Gate Reviews and constant communication with project Champions and Process Owners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research, Analyze, and Implement cutting edge technological improvements in design and operations. Benchmarking within and across industries.
  • Apply and Teach Six Sigma and Lean Business Process Tools and Methods to Improve Engineering Management Processes: Will use and teach tools and apply engineering management process knowledge and methods to the factory, Black Belts, Green Belts and subject matter experts for Six Sigma and Lean projects.                                                       
  • Support the Strategic Plan for J.R. Simplot: Mentors and advises employees and management on prioritizing, charting, and launching projects that support the strategic direction of the Food Group and of the Simplot organization.                                                  
  • Will provide analysis, recommendations for improvement, reporting, and technical support to all Six Sigma certified employees, Unit Directors and their staffs, to help develop, coach and lead multifunctional teams to work on projects  in order to make improvements to operational performance, product quality, and processes.
  • Applies Lean Processing and Six Sigma Breakthrough Steps Correctly to solve chronic problems, remove waste, and to plan new services or products.  Will monitor the progress and ensure that each project is aligning with business objectives and the strategic plan.
  • Manage and lead facility continuous improvement projects. Leads a team by providing clarity of vision; prioritizing resources; facilitating alignment of the team; setting high expectations; inspiring commitment; encouraging mutual support; and enabling development opportunities.
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university
Relevant Experience
3+ years related experience and/or training
Required Certifications
Other Information

Experience is required in the areas of lean process improvements, statistics, production methods and quality standards. Manufacturing experience required. Must be flexible and willing to alter schedule(s) on short notice and be available for evening and weekend work. Some travel is required. Green Belt or Black Belt Certification preferred or equivalent in a similar process improvement methodology such as Lean, Total Quality Management, Process Management.
