Environmental and Sustainability Manager (Grand View, ID)

Summary
This role plans, implements, and manages the environmental, regulatory and sustainability programs within a business group. Enhance the environmental performance within the organization by partnering with leadership and corporate headquarters in directing and implementing compliance strategies, programs, policies/procedures, and systems. Ensure Federal, State and local regulatory requirements are implemented and followed in each operating State within the Land and Livestock Group.
This position will generally manage multiple programs/projects in several areas of compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Largely responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental compliance measures required under Federal, State, and local regulations. Assists management in interpreting and applying technical regulatory requirements on production operations.
- Direct all activities associated with subcontracting of vendors for services and equipment.
- Interact with regulatory and/or government agencies to ensure environmental compliance.
- Keep updated on information related to new developments in regulatory changes in environmental requirements and incorporate the information into tactical business planning.
- Develop budgets and monitors cost control measures for environmental compliance.
- Responsible for assuring effective utilization of personnel and responding promptly to the needs of the operations.
- Leads capital, sustainability, and compliance projects at operating sites.
- Responsible for the management of goals and initiatives, for the Land & Livestock’s Agriculture Sustainability Program. The program must be achievable, cost effective and adhere to and support environmental regulations. Provide ongoing development and enhancement to ensure we meet company, customers, suppliers, government and industry requirements. This includes participation in a company-wide Ag Sustainability Oversight Team.
- Manage or support various operations improvement projects. This may require developing project management plans, execution of projects, and monitoring and tracking scheduling, budgeting, identifying, monitoring and responding to risks, and providing accurate and timely reporting of project metrics.

Typical Education
Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university and five plus years related experience and/or training.
Relevant Experience
- Strong background in agriculture and manufacturing is preferred to manage the diverse range of agricultural sustainability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of federal and state environmental laws/regulations. Must be able to accurately define problems, collect data, interpret analytical results, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable recommendations to upper management that support the production and final goals of the company.
- Must demonstrate ability to set and attain goals and to be self-managed/self-directed.
- Requires strong organizational and analytical abilities with excellent communication, organizational and team skills.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License held in good standing.
- Willingness and availability to travel as necessary and up to 50% of the time.
- Must be capable of and willing to respond to emergencies during weekends and/or holidays.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for meeting the minimum requirements.
