Calf Ranch Labor (Grand View, ID)

Summary
Day begins early with getting milk, bottles, and nipples prepped for morning feeding. Feeding along with begging of calves that need help eating. Once all calves are fed, cleaning of milk equipment follows. Water and grain is fed next, this involves spot cleaning and replacing dirty buckets. The vet/receiving crew will be out processing newly arrived calves as well as walking calves to monitor health. This includes drawing of blood, vaccinating, dehorning, banding, administering medication, etc. Bedding is monitored and added as needed. Pens and rows will be scraped and cleaned on schedule with calf moves. In the afternoons calves will be fed again in a similar fashion to the morning feeding.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Feed calves bottles according to schedule, per instructions and distribute according to supervisor directions
- Cleans and sanitize milk bottles/nipples, grain/water buckets, and hutches between use to ensure healthy feeding facilities.
- Maintain grounds ensuring that the facility is clean and free of debris both inside and outside.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurements, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
