Temp Palletizer Operator (Crew D) Grand Forks GF

Summary

This job is responsible for the palletizing of all finished product from the packaging area. The palletizer is mainly responsible for properly stacking finished product on pallets, wrapping pallets, and palletizer maintenance. This role must be a strong player in palletizer operations and maintenance, and take a proactive approach, identifying opportunity areas.

This position reports to the Dock Team Leader and Dock Supervisor.

The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members and following direction and instructions from a team leader or manager.

Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position.

Overtime requirements in this position are common and may be required to meet operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operate Palletizing Equipment:

   • Start, stop, and monitor automated palletizing systems.
   • Adjust machine settings to accommodate different product types and packaging formats.

2. Stack and Wrap Finished Products:

   • Ensure all finished goods are stacked neatly and securely on pallets.
   • Use stretch wrap machines or manual methods to wrap pallets for stability during transport.

3. Inspect Product and Packaging:

   • Check for damaged or improperly packaged items before palletizing.
   • Ensure labeling and packaging meet quality standards.

4. Perform Routine Maintenance:

   • Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance on palletizing equipment.
   • Report mechanical issues to maintenance teams promptly.

5. Maintain Clean Work Area:

   • Keep the palletizing zone clean, organized, and free of hazards.
   • Follow sanitation and safety protocols.

6. Recordkeeping and Documentation:

   • Log production data such as pallet counts, downtime, and equipment issues.
   • Complete shift reports and quality checklists.

7. Collaborate with Team Members:

   • Communicate with packaging, warehouse, and quality assurance teams.
   • Assist with training new operators or temporary staff.

8. Follow Safety and Compliance Standards:

   • Adhere to OSHA and company-specific safety guidelines.
   • Wear required PPE and participate in safety drills and training.

Typical Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Relevant Experience

• Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
