Transportation Yard Support (Caldwell, ID) Trans FG

Summary

This position assists in maintaining the upkeep of the Caldwell Simplot Transportation Terminal property and the Idaho Plant property.  This position also assists with hooking, unhooking, and driving diesel- or gas-powered trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities

This position works five days per week with daily on the job hours ranging from 8 – 10 hours, as needed to complete job assignments.

  • Shuttle trailers to the terminal or Boise for repairs
  • Bring trucks back to the terminal from the Plant; ensuring the trucks are weighed out, fueled, windows washed, and post trip conducted
  • Helps with snow removal/de-icing
  • Keeps the Terminal and Idaho Plant grounds free of trash and weeds
  • Cleans left over potatoes out of the trailers
  • Cleans inside of the bulk fuel storage
  • Stocks Caldwell VIR, log, and envelops
  • Keeps all fuel and DEF cabinets, hoses, and nozzles clean
  • Empties terminal and fuel island trash
  • Sweeps the fuel island and places oil waste in barrel
  • Responsible for refilling floor dry
  • Shuttles Truck Drivers to and from the Idaho Plant when needed
  • Back up labor for the Equipment Operator crew when short handed

Typical Education

One year over the road driving experience.  Driving school may substitute for 6 months of driving experience.

Relevant Experience

  • Must be at least 21 years of age, due to travel requirements for DOT
  • One year of over-the-road experience
  • Must accurately and timely complete company and DOT required forms

Required Certifications

Must have a valid Class A CDL with proper endorsements and a current DOT Physical

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Language Skills:  Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence and to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
