Summary

The Senior Manage Customer Quality is responsible for the oversight, direction and coordination of Quality Assurance and Food Safety Policies, Procedures and other related activities involved in supplying Quality Products Globally. The role works together with Operations in developing and implementing systems and procedures that ensure products distributed to Customers are safe, meet the regulatory requirements of the countries where they are consumed, and are manufactured in accordance with both Simplot’s high- quality standards and our customer’s systems requirements. This role directs the development, implementation and ongoing review of operating and quality policies and procedures, as well as training curriculum and activities that assure compliance with strategic goals for quality and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement quality strategies and procedures that drive improved results of all Potato, value added and avocado facilities.
  • Assuring that Customer’s standards, specifications, policies and procedures are appropriately interpreted, standardized, and integrated into Simplot Food Group Quality Systems where necessary and appropriate. Recognizing that Customer standards may be higher expectations than foodservice industry standards.
  • Direct the standardization of product quality across all manufacturing facilities by monitoring plant and product audits, plant grading procedure audits, and weekly sensory panel cuttings. Communicate observations to plant quality and operations management, providing assistance as needed to resolve product issues. Simplify procedures and improve communication through the appropriate use of information technology.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Customer’s quality, R&D and purchasing groups to facilitate open and direct communication. Lead by example in being ‘customer-obsessed’, helping to educate internal Simplot customers on Customer’s expectations as well as representing the Simplot company externally with McDonald’s and other partner suppliers. Serve as potato quality and technical expert for our customers and the industry.
  • Assure all Customer quality expectations are communicated and understood throughout Operations and Quality leadership teams and assist in creating aligned strategies that help assure compliance to specifications, expectations and related business success.
  • Design, direct and facilitate quality improvement projects with the appropriate Simplot business unit personnel to ensure appropriate resources are applied and results are achieved on behalf of the customer.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

8+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university. Master’s Degree preferred. 8-10 years management experience with five years direct experience related to operations and/or quality management. Other: A good understanding of food safety, quality, manufacturing and other supply chain systems as they relate to delivering upon customer expectations. Including 6 Sigma, HACCP, FSMA, Export and Import Food Safety Regulatory requirements along with the effective application of those areas in the food manufacturing and supply chain environment. The ability to quickly assess and apply risk benefit analysis when making decisions in situations where negotiating effective solutions is critical to both Simplot’s and Customer’s respective businesses.

 

Abilities: This role requires the ability to build effective and lasting relationships across the Simplot organization, with Customer’s leadership and with other key system suppliers. This person should have sufficient business acumen to make sound business decisions in stressful situations, recognizing the need for maintaining the customer relationship while at the same time taking hard stances in ensuring Simplot’s operational and financial success.
