Simplot internships are designed to provide meaningful work experiences for students pursuing bachelor and master’s degree programs. All our internships are paid positions that are offered for a designated period. Each posting is unique with the duration and time commitment varied. Interns are assigned specific tasks to accomplish and are expected to participate in a variety of projects based on the business group. With these projects, interns can apply the skills and knowledge they are acquiring in school.

Key Responsibilities

Intern will investigate the current process conditions at the Pasco Enrobing Line. Focusing on Ready-to-Use Products, intern will scale-down the enrobing and seasoning systems from Pasco to the Pilot Plant Enrobing line.  Intern will develop, execute, and analyze a DOE to determine reasons for variance seen in finished product and offer solutions to reduce the variance. Prefer a candidate pursing a degree in Food Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.


  Work with the Product Development team executing the design of experiment, collecting and analyzing data and report writing.

  • Support current business needs. Work with cross-functional team including marketing, quality assurance and process R&D to support the Product Development process.
  • Present the project objective and key learnings to the Simplot Technical Center staff at the end of the internship.
Typical Education

Pursuing a four year degree in an Engineering or Food Science discipline

Relevant Experience

Knowledge of processes and engineering principles as they apply to food processing. 

Fluent Skills in Microsoft Office Suite

Basic Skills in CAD, Design of Experiments, Finite Element Analysis

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be able to develop, execute and analyze experimental plans

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, unit operations a plus.
