SUMMARY
Sets up, adjusts, and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, drills and punch presses, and grinders in the fabrication and repair of feedlot and/or farm vehicles, machinery, and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operates welding equipment, cutting torch, and/or cut off saw to cut or weld parts, equipment, or facilities.
Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
Plans work procedures and identifies supplies/parts needed to complete assigned projects. Communicates with Part’s House personnel as needed to obtain and/or order necessary parts/supplies. Generates, updates and maintains work orders for assigned jobs and/or repairs.
Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school and/or five or more years related fabrication/welding experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discount interest commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, mathematics, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of computer operations. Must be able to use a michrometer, dial indicator guages, and other work related tools.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
