Environmental Health Safety Manager Land & Livestock (Pasco, WA)

Summary

This role plans and manages the environmental, health, and safety programs under senior management direction. Recognizes, evaluates, recommends, and implements policies and procedures to assure awareness of and compliance with EH&S federal/state regulations as well as company requirements.   Develops, implements, and evaluates phases of programs to assure personnel and facility safety.  Integrate programs into employee population through face-to-face interactions, observations, feedback loops, training, etc.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Work at various sites with internal personnel integrating programs as well as measuring and documenting compliance efforts.  
  • Responsible for monitoring and preventing chemical, biological, and physical hazards and diseases present throughout work sites.   
  • Ensure that quality control procedures are established to monitor all aspects of regulations.    
  • Provide necessary reports to Federal, State, and local authorities.       
  • Involved in audits of environmental, health, and safety programs to identify and control significant loss-producing exposure. Keep informed of all existing and proposed changes in occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct trend analysis and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and materials. Analyze data in compliance with current regulations and make appropriate recommendations to management and employees to prevent new or recurring accidents.   
  • Develop, coordinate and/or conduct EHS training for employees.  Promote communication programs to enhance and encourage employee awareness of accident and fire prevention, emergency preparedness, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and quality assurance programs. Maintain training records and assignments within the learning management system.
  • Develop, implement, and utilize phases of programs and record keeping systems to track and evaluate personnel injury and illness experience. Participate in monitoring and controlling the company’s safety standards in accordance with OSHA and State regulations.   
  • Conduct accident investigations using RCA, follow standard OSHA reporting and timelines as well as create feedback loops with employee/s and managers.  In addition, ensure all data is gathered and given to workman’s compensation provider, when necessary.  
  • Coordinate and attend, when necessary, local safety committee meetings; ensure tailgate meetings are being done and send out appropriate safety topics to managers, supervisors, and employees to discuss during meetings, CARE conversations, etc.
  • Oversee and manage the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) process for the business group.

  

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 5+ years of experience.

 

Relevant Experience

5+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

  • Must have a strong working knowledge of federal and state environmental, health, and safety laws/regulations. Must be able to accurately define problems, collect data, interpret analytical results, draw valid conclusions, and make reasonable recommendations to upper management that support the production and final goals of the company.     

 

  • Must be capable of and willing to respond to emergencies during off shifts, weekends, and/or holidays. Must be able to interface effectively with management, operations, and agency personnel.

Wage range or rate of pay: ($115,000- 135,000)  Plus annual incentive plan eligibility
