User Experience Design Manager

Summary

The user experience designer will leverage deep business and design expertise to partner with internal digital teams, corporate and business unit stakeholders to perform user-centered design activities that support the ongoing development of our digital experience.  The role will work with our business and corporate teams to understand their specific customer challenges, needs and goals – and specifically focusing on the data driving these intended behaviors.  This knowledge combined with a collaborative approach will translate into design approaches grounded in user engagement and optimization.

 

Capitalizing on strong presentation skills and the ability to guide internal customers through the process of creating user-centric designs based on data-driven analysis, you’ll help to create the structure and approach that connects our corporate stakeholders (business units, internal teams) with their customers. The ideal candidate works with purpose, can quickly discern the needs of a project and responds to creative briefs with fresh ideas and business-aligned (and sometimes disruptive) approaches that are rooted in human interaction. 

 

The UX designer will understand the capabilities of our digital ecosystem and design easy to use, intuitive interfaces that increases overall usability and impact.  With an interest and approach to ongoing optimization, you’ll help us to develop a process and cycle to drive improvement through user testing, prototyping and ongoing improvement.

 

We’re seeking someone with experience working across multiple marketing channels and who understands the complexities and creative implications of a global brand.

 

Collaborative problem solving with strong bias for action and an entrepreneurial spirit is essential.  To thrive in this position, we need a team player who is comfortable leading brainstorms and collaborating with a cross functional digital experience team, as well as working with internal teams from business and corporate teams to deliver a strong customer experience across our digital ecosystem.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Solve Problems Through Internal Collaboration: Learn about the diverse Simplot corporate and business teams to aid in creating designs, flows and models, and engaging copy / content that connect with customers and employees.  Impart this knowledge in building experiences that resonate and engage.
  • Drive Experience Consistency: Provide feedback and direction to design and marketing teams to ensure intuitive and innovative solutions that follow established design principles, guidelines and patterns

  • Develop Guidelines & Standards: Assist in implementing a design system that works well in the Simplot environment, rules and thinking of how core assets and templates are leveraged

  • Guide, Mentor and Inspire: Leading with a UX perspective, work with other designers in the team, keeping up with the design industry evolution including best practices, new trends and technologies.


 

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 8+ years related experience and/or training
  • Significant experience using design and prototyping tools to translate ideas into working products (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Framer, Adobe XD, and InVision; Figma preferred)
  • Have a background in HCI, Design, or a related field. You know the theory behind interaction design
  • Strong knowledge of visual design, interactive design, brand development and experience design
  • Excellent communication, writing, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Strong portfolio showing the breadth of UX strategy / design capabilities
