Summary
The Manager, Market Research & Insights provides the major source of global and domestic pertinent market analytics, competitive assessments, market forecasts and scenario modelling within the crop nutrition, agriculture and related commodity sectors. The role is that of a service provider to the teams, focused on excellent communication, and strong understanding of the business issues that affect AgriBusiness. Applying expertise in competitive intelligence, market research, data modeling, syndicated data, application of advanced analytics to the full breadth of strategy development and market intelligence. In addition, this role will be responsible for analysis of global, national, cultural, regional and local trends across crop nutrition, agriculture and related commodity sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, research and analyze domestic and global market trends as they relate to AgriBusiness core activities: global and domestic crop nutrition production and distribution, agricultural commodities, the general macro-economic environment (both domestic & international), energy sector, transportation, government policy, financial markets, etc.
- Develop and maintain industry models as basis for internal executive presentations.
- Maintain a regular cadence of reporting to stakeholders throughout AgriBusiness and the J.R. Simplot Company including market analyses, competitor profiles and benchmarks, senior leadership and executive presentations, market forecasts and professional opinions/guidance relevant to the direction of all sectors of the AgriBusiness Group.
- Lead market analysis work for the business units, delivering forward-thinking and foundational insights that enable short-term and long-term business objectives.
- Achieve a high level of strategic partnership and influence with relevant cross-functional partners (e.g. Retail, Wholesale, FP&A, Mining & Manufacturing).
- Provide thought leadership and business council to senior-level and cross-functional leaders, by leveraging insights in a way that influences business strategy.
- Facilitate the design, management and presentation of both qualitative and quantitative research programs, including recommending methodology, questionnaire design and data analysis to support the business initiatives.
- Manage external research providers to align with group objectives.
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

5+ years related experience and/or training
