The Senior Director Procurement will play a crucial role in driving the organization’s procurement, purchasing and sourcing functions to minimize the organization’s overall indirect purchasing costs without compromising quality or reliability of supply.


The Senior Director Procurement reports to a Senior Vice President and is responsible for the development of the organization’s overall procurement strategy; establishes purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems, and procedures that will achieve strategic objectives. Identifies, evaluates, and capitalizes on opportunities to reduce purchasing costs by improving the organization’s buying patterns and supply channels. The Senior Director Procurement evaluates negotiates and manages the most complex or strategically important supplier and vendor relationship to secure terms that are in the organization’s best interest. Will lead a matrix organization, in meeting both the company and individual business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • ​​​​​Global Scope: Think globally, not regionally – drive an ‘one company’ G&A mentality. Regularly visit the businesses, regardless of location.
  • Service Orientation: Enable business success by being a fit-for-purpose service provider that meets business needs in a cost-effective manner. Provide service levels requested by BUs and allocate cost accordingly.
  • Strategic Advisor: Act as a catalyst, driving insights for BU Presidents to meet business objectives, be an innovative thought partner to the CEO, Provide strategic advice to the Board / EC based on functional expertise.
  • Interfaces with senior leadership and navigates through organizational boundaries, developing influence where control resides with others.
  • Develops and implements the production planning and controls purchasing and distribution activities of the organization.
  • Oversees warehousing and distribution activities from the purchase of indirect materials to the finished product.
  • Proactively manage change within an organization by building a matrixed team and collaborating with business and functional leaders on objectives and performance.
  • Manages team of approximately 50+ people and is a strong developer of talent with the ability to measure team and individual performance.
  • Talent Development Minded: Develop functional talent ‘bench strength’. Cultivate future leaders and ‘high potentials.
  • Continuous Improvement Focus: Drive performance culture, accountability, and compliance. Be accountable for Project Vista transformation and targets. Implement a program of continuous improvement and track benefits.
  • Champions the strategic sourcing and ongoing performance improvement across all externally purchased goods and services.
  • Has primary responsibility for designing and implementing the policies that control the organization’s procurement/purchase of indirect materials, supplies, equipment and services.
  • Manages relationships/partnerships with key suppliers.
  • Develops policies for the purchase of raw materials, supplies, equipment and services.


Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university 

Relevant Experience
10+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information

The candidate for Senior Director Procurement should have a 4-year bachelor’s degree in related field and a Master’s degree (preferably an MBA or MS) or equivalent procurement experience. Performance track record with large, global enterprises as a CPO or team leader. Skilled negotiator. Best practice knowledge of developments in the Procure to Pay (P2P) area. Must have a drive to pursue the opportunities presented and to implement globally. Experience in supplier relationship management process, delivering on-going and sustainable value including innovation and risk management.


Experience with mining/agriculture and food businesses not required, but nice to have. Extensive travel to company subsidiaries will be required.
