Summary
Within the Human Resources Division, provides professional guidance, coordination, and support in the effective and consistent application of job classification and compensation administration policies and practices. Responsible for all broad-based compensation programs throughout all countries in which Simplot operates. Works closely with Business Leadership, Finance, and HR to ensure compensation plans are in alignment with the Company’s values and strategies and in line with current and long-term trends. Administers and maintains various compensation-related data management systems and coordinates and facilitates implementation of corporate-level compensation programs and initiatives. Provides advice, training, and support to HR consultants and the Simplot community, as appropriate, in the application of compensation management principles, guidelines, procedures, and best practices. Responsible for ongoing research and analysis, assessing budgetary impact of compensation decisions. Provides oversight with regulations and labor laws.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides training, instruction, and administration of fixed and variable compensation, salary ranges, job evaluation process and companywide incentive programs.
- Owns the end-to-end process of compensation system expectations, functions and capabilities and works with HR and Finance to ensure the accuracy of all input and output data.
- Collaborates with HR, Talent, and Leadership partners as appropriate in the day-to-day application of compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
- Researches and analyzes competitive compensation practices; contributes to established compensation surveys and/or develops and implements custom surveys as appropriate providing recommendations for improvement in company position.
- Conducts market research, analysis, reporting, and benchmarking to provide Business Leads with pertinent information to support plan design. Ensures plans drive appropriate behaviors, enable growth in profit and/or market share, and are fully compliant. Must be able to utilize research and experience to analyze data and influence decisions across the organization.
- Provides support for variable pay programs. Ensures accuracy of plan information, summaries, schedules, and acknowledgements to facilitate distribution of materials in a timely manner.
- Ensures plans remain compliant with all current regulations, monitors new regulation and recommending appropriate action. Serves as liaison with legal support and consultants. Advises leadership regarding compliance requirements. Provides oversight and ensures all plan documents are current and distributed timely. Leads audit efforts as necessary. Stays up to date on labor laws such as Fair Labor Standards Act and other federal laws regulating compensation in all global operations.
- Leads the annual compensation cycle for the J.R. Simplot Company, providing training and timely adherence to the process. Ensuring process is optimized with a continuous improvement mindset making recommendations and collaborating with other stakeholders.
- Ability to coach and partner with the organization on compensation practices globally.
- Capable of providing project leadership, influence and decision making to ensure effective delivery of compensation programs.
- Maintains productive partnerships with other members of the Global Payroll team, HR, HR Solutions, Tax, Total Rewards, Legal, Audit, and Finance, ensuring effective communication, prioritization, execution, and adherence to established company policies and procedures as they related to compensation.
Typical Education
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4-year college or university
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
