In support of the AgriBusiness strategic direction, this job plays a critical role in progressing the AgriBusiness Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process. The job is accountable for driving discussion and decisions, prior to and as a component of the integrated supply and demand management reviews working through senior leaders to help drive key business decisions. This person will work closely with Sales & Marketing, Operations and Production to help match demand to supply in an efficient and profitable manner. This job is responsible for shaping recommendations for consideration by the supply and demand owners through cross functional collaboration with teams including Sales & Marketing, Operations, Production, Customer Service, Transportation and Finance etc. to help shape and optimize customer and product portfolios. This job requires discipline to manage within strict timelines as defined by the S&OP process. This job requires significant emphasis on skills including analytics, critical thinking, communication and relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop sales and production forecasts through a compilation of demand streams including statistical modeling, market inputs, macroeconomic signals, competitive threats, qualitative feedback through both Sales and Production, and consideration of risks and opportunities against the plan.
  • Coordinate with Sales and Operations to maximize customer satisfaction while ensuring alignment to strategy.  Ensure effective utilization of capacity through situational events.
  • Lead teams with participants from Operations Planning, Finance, Sales and others to advise senior management team on maximization of long-term profitability through active management of product and customer mix.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Finance and others to optimize customer satisfaction and profitability through improved fill rates, increased forecast accuracy, and optimization of inventory positioning.
  • Develop proposals to improve demand fulfillment with consideration for the customers’ needs across a holistic view of the supply chain network (customer/Simplot).  Work with key customers to deliver better integrated network performance and solutions.
  • Coordinates communication of business plans and collaborates on solutions with the Operations teams to find optimal supply options particularly in times of constraint.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 5+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

  • Understand the supply chain dynamics involved in forecasting, production, inventory and distribution, with experience operating with a formal Sales and Operations Planning process a plus.
  • Experience with supply chain / demand planning / forecasting software is preferred. Requires strong math skills. Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
  • The Sales & Operations Planning Manager must have the ability to facilitate discussion with and influence senior leaders of the organization.
  • Also, must have the ability to work with strict timelines and exhibit both excellent critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
