Regional Sales Director (Little Rock or New Orleans)

Summary

The Regional Sales Director (RSD) will be primarily responsible to lead a high-performing team and execute a go-to-market strategy to meet annual sales objectives in an assigned region.  In this role, you will be responsible for the success of your team and driving results and working through others. You will achieve revenue and profit goals aligned to company and regional strategic objectives. Through robust analytics and strategic customer insights, the Regional Sales Director will be responsible to grow business through effective leadership with distributors, brokers and in-market street sales team to penetrate, develop and grow diverse product categories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a sales strategy for the region and ensure your teams line-of-sight to regional, foodservice Sales and company objectives
  • Train, direct work and motivate a regional team to achieve regional sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Lead and participate in talent strategies and manage performance and individual development to ensure the most potential is achieved by everyone on the team.
  • Coach and provide feedback to assure individual success across teams.
  • Assist the Senior Zone Director in the development of zone business and talent strategies
  • Provide effective leadership and selling coaching to sales teams to penetrate, develop and grow key product categories and business segments.
  • Exceptionally own and manage departmental budgets, both internal and customer facing, and deliver against regional goals.
  • Exceptional understanding of P&L, and strong ability to manage pricing decisions within finance parameters to deliver profitable revenue and growth.
  • Ensure sales forecasts and profit targets are met by analyzing results and driving needed corrective actions to deviation of the plan.
  • Measure, report, and proactively act to ensure the success of your regional sales plan through clear, accurate and timely communication in conjunction with goals and strategy
  • Develop and maintain focused customer relations through frequent contact and business reviews within assigned geographical area. Develop and execute plans to grow business with existing and new customers.
  • Hire and manage broker representation where applicable.
  • Successfully persuade and influence distributors, brokers and internal teams without authority in a professional and collaborative way
Typical Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university required, MBA desired
Relevant Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in a foodservice Sales environment required
  •  5+ years’ experience developing and leading a high-performing team required
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds required
  • Ability to travel/drive 50% of time required and some weekend travel may be necessary
  • Proven business acumen and experience managing sales and profit and loss statements, with demonstrated experience leveraging data to drive sales plans, and strong learning agility to adapt based on fluctuating market conditions and customer expectations
  • Exceptional knowledgeable of the foodservice market, marketing techniques and tactics, as well as the economics of the foodservice and retail trades
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully build and execute a sales strategy that covers large markets, calling on both commercial and non-commercial segments, comprised of larger volume independent operators and regional multi-unit chains
  • Self-starter and proven ability to successfully multi-task and manage unexpected demands of daily activities
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs and Sales Reporting Systems
  • Mobility is strongly preferred
Other Information
  • May manage a large regional account and/or have direct distributor responsibility not assigned to the sales team of Key Account group.
  • Provide direction and collaborate with internal cross functional teams including Marketing and Sales Planning to deliver regional plan.
  • Lift and carry 30 pounds, utilize culinary influence and to support your team in product demos, work in a commercial kitchen, and demonstrating product to customers.
  • Influence the team across the region. Serve as a mentor, indirect leader and drive and share best practices across the Foodservice organization.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability of expected activities with the Simplot CRM system (Salesforce) to drive efficiency and measure results.
  • Fully embrace and become proficient with the Simplot Sales Process and executing the go-to-market strategies of the Food Service Division.
