Market Sales Manager - Seattle, WA

Summary

The Market Sales Manager (MSM) will lead a small team of Sales direct reports to ensure a high performing team and individual achievement is achieved. With emphasis on leading, coaching and managing performance, the Market Sales Manager will grow business with key operators and distributors and achieve annual sales objectives in assigned segments. The Market Sales Manager will also be responsible to optimize price negotiations, manage trade spend and ensure general compliance to programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, manage performance and assure individual development for a small team of direct reports.
  • Develop a sales strategy, train, direct work and motivate the team to achieve territory sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Assist the Regional Sales Director in the development of regional business and talent strategies.
  • Utilize a strategic mindset to develop various strategies to recruit and establish new partnerships for the sale of products. Research industry and marketing trends and develop product suggestions based on findings. Supply programs, information, and tools that aid selling efforts.
  • Demonstrate strong financial and business acumen, including a solid understanding the financial implications of both internal and external partners. 
  • Negotiate contract pricing and effectively manage budgeted trade dollars related to operator and distributor spending.
  • Profile and penetrate key operators and distributors by developing strong relationships with primary management and sales personnel to ensure success of territory sales.
  • Demonstrate a consultative approach to conduct sales calls with key customers and stakeholders, and clearly communicate the Simplot value-added products and services while representing the full Simplot product line across multiple markets. 
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate with internal cross functional teams to ensure key initiatives are clearly being executed (Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, Quality Assurance, Culinary, Demand Planning, Production, and Logistics.) 
  • Execute promotional and other scheduled activities to drive results. 
  • Conduct product demonstrations that drive customer acceptance of new product introductions and innovation.
  • Fully embrace and demonstrate proficiency with the Simplot Sales Process and execute the go-to market strategies.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability of expected activities with the Simplot CRM system (Salesforce), measure team results and drive efficiencies.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5+ years related experience and/or training

Other Information

  • Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds and utilize culinary influence when working in a commercial kitchen to demonstrate product to customers.
  • Proven capability to lead a small team preferred.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and execute a sales strategy and cover large markets with both larger volume independent operations and regional multi-unit chains.
  • Proven organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to be agile while managing unexpected demands of short and long-term team activities.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required.
  • Able to travel ~50% within the territory. Mobility is strongly preferred.
  • Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
