Summary
The Business Process Lead – Make to Deploy Manufacturing is responsible for leading out the business process design of the SAP S/4 implementation known at Simplot as Bedrock. They are a business team member within the Global Food business team. They will represent and make decisions on behalf of the business, but are dedicated 100% to the Bedrock program.
The Make to Deploy Manufacturing process area covers manufacturing, quality management including traceability and batch control and maintenance / enterprise asset management. They will closely collaborate with process leads in other functional areas such as finance for operations accounting, forecast to schedule for production scheduling, procurement for purchasing and logistics for warehousing to ensure a complete end to end process design.
The ideal candidate is a leader who has a deep understanding of Simplot’s manufacturing processes. This candidate should also understand the existing business with a vision for the future while influencing and inspiring their stakeholders towards that vision. This individual will be part of the North American business process team while collaborating closely with their peer in Australia to ensure a global design for Make to Deploy Manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Current state assessment:
- Map and understand the as-is processes within the business
- Define key business processes that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Define what is required at go live (minimum viable product) and what are future roadmap items
- Work with the master data team on early data profiling, cleansing, scoping and design.
- Designing the future:
- Collaborate with cross-functional business teams to provide expertise and a vision for future desired business processes
- Work closely with the SAP product team to define the future end to end processes and solutions (Epics and Features)
- Work closely with the functional teams as the solution is built and provide business feedback and gap identification
- Identify needed policy and procedure changes that will be required
- Work with Organizational Change Management (OCM) and HR teams on change impacts and future organizational requirements
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in the SAP Manufacturing space
- Decision making and Subject Matter Expert (SME) engagement:
- Coordinate, engage and build a network of SMEs from the business teams to contribute to program activities
- Update stakeholders and functional leadership on program activities
- Facilitate and make key decisions for this area including gap disposition and negotiating where the solution does not fully meet user expectations.
- Feed future enhancements or functionality into the product roadmap that will be scoped for future releases
- Implementation & Sustainment
- Coordinate SMEs and end users to complete testing and sign off of defect resolution
- Verify and sign off on master data loads in coordination with functional teams
- Collaborate with product teams and training team to develop and deliver end user training
- Oversea and sign off cutover data (open orders, inventory, etc…)
- Partner with change leaders to ensure end user adoption of tools and adherence to the designed process
- Stand up super user network to transition this group post go-live
- Facilitate process mining activity to monitor effectiveness/accurate use of the system post go live
Typical Education

Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of experience
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA
- Strong understanding of operations including production, maintenance and quality
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex topics to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience influencing and managing teams and leading projects
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex processes into actionable business recommendations
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work in a challenging environment and manage multiple priorities
Other Information
Excellent communications, interpersonal, collaboration and influencing skills with solid business acumen, process mindset and time management skills. Travel: Willingness to travel up to 30%, which may include international travel. Willingness to be based for long periods of time at a location prior to go live and afterwards, including international sites. Adheres to all standards, policies and systems as appropriate.
