Summary

Works in conjunction with their supervisor to carry out experiments with minimum support, trouble shoots and optimizes experimental methods, and summarizes and discusses results. Performs several projects simultaneously and has a good understanding of the theoretical basis of their own experiments. Candidate is organized, meticulous, and collaborative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides technical biochemistry support for the development of biotech potatoes, strawberries, and potentially other crops.
  • Exhibits technical efficiency and excellence in biochemical methods.
  • Works in conjunction with their team to design and carry out experiments.
  • Responsible for tracking plant material and ensuring proper documentation
  • Processes plant material for downstream experimental applications.
  • Completes straightforward experiments with direction and minimal support.
  • Summarizes and reports experimental results.
  • Supports overall scientific progress of the team, stays positive and focused, and continues to seek improvements in methods.
  • Takes leadership in carrying out certain functions such as (1) biohazardous waste containment and removal, (2) laboratory safety, (3) ordering reagents, (4) electronic database management, (5) and chemical reagent inventory.

Typical Education

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.
