Infrastructure Engineer IV HQ GS

Summary

Under limited supervision, this networking job function will be responsible for maintaining any active global network system (wired or wireless), including planning, designing, evaluating, configuration, and implementation of core networking hardware including management of any subcontractors or carriers.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain all system configurations and ensure compliance with any IT architectural guidelines, security policies, and ensuring current system documentation is maintained.
• Design, install, analyze optimize, and troubleshoot enterprise wireless and wired networks in multivendor environment with a clear understanding of wireless controllers from concept to life cycle management.
• Clear understanding of 802.11 protocols, WLAN standards, Spectrum analysis, RF planning/optimization, with the ability to understand licensed or unlicensed frequency bands and interpret packet captures.
• Responsible for network designs that would address plant operation VLANs, security, and cloud access.
• Work on difficult interoperability problems to obtain operational success across all system platforms (i.e. Wireless, Teams).
• Work with network vendors for turn up and testing of new services, or problem resolution on any equipment or circuit outages.
• Shared responsibility for monitoring circuit and network performance, identification of circuit or component failures, plus accurate and timely reporting of issues into a centralized ticketing database.
• Must be able to work in a team environment, collaborating with other IT departments or business units around the globe.
• Act as mentor to any junior team members and can be designated to represent the Network Engineering department on any IT council or committee.
• Will keep abreast of emerging technologies, evaluate or recommend new products or solutions that aligns with our global IT strategies.

Typical Education

• Bachelor's Degree from 4 year college or university.

Relevant Experience

4 - 10 years related experience (Network Engineer III)

10+ years related experience (Network Engineer IV)

• Preferred Certifications: Juniper (JNCIA, JNCDS, JNCIP), Aruba/HP (ACMX, ACDX, ACCX, ACMP, ACDP, ACCP, ACSP, ACMA, ACCA, or ACSA), NetScout (nCP, nCA, nCE, nCM), Microsoft (MCSA, MCSE-Communications).
• Technical Skills/Proficiencies: Networking: TCP/IP, WAN, LAN, VLAN, VPN, VOIP, SIP, IP Trunking, H323, Wireless (802.11x), MPLS (BGP), QOS, UNIX, Linux.
• Supported Hardware: Juniper & HP Switches/Routers, Aruba, & Juniper wireless. Cambium RF wireless.
• Tools - Juniper MIST AI, Aruba (AirWave, Clearpass), Wire Shark.
• IT Service Management: ITIL Framework, IT Service Continuity.
• Working knowledge of Windows (Server, Active Directory, and Domains), HP Blade Systems, Security Principals, Firewall Basics, or Cisco Certifications would be considered a plus.
• Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
