Summary

The Business Partner Human Resources, Commercial LATAM and Global McDonalds is a Senior HR Business Partnering role responsible for all Human Resources for the Commercial LATAM region and Global McDonalds, building collaborative business relationships and partnerships to provide strategic and operational advice, coaching, HR expertise and counseling on key people decisions, in support of the enterprise, regional and functional strategies.

 

As the business partner for the Vice President LATAM, India and Global McDonalds and leadership teams, the role is responsible to fully understand the business objectives in LATAM and Global McDonalds (India is initially out of scope), to build and lead an actionable people strategy and plan for the part of the business they support. In addition to being a member of the Human Resources Leadership team for Global Food, the individual will work closely with the HR Centers of Excellence (COE), to seamlessly drive Human Resource objectives and outcomes throughout the business. The LATAM Commercial teams include approximately XX employees across the McDonalds team and Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and several other South and North LATAM countries as we grow our sales footprint into this region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works with leaders to lead transformation and change initiatives, either driven by the Company or the regional Commercial leads to support shifts required in the business or the enterprise strategy, and to ensure all objectives, targets and commitments are met.
  • Manages both large and small business projects and initiatives for the Company and assigned business areas, which impact the enterprise as well as structure, people or people processes. Ensures COE and other subject matter experts are included throughout the projects to ensure consistency and successful completion of the project.  It is envisaged that this role will take a lead role for the rollout of most ‘Corporate’ initiatives, e.g., payroll, MySimplot, people programs, and must ensure a close working relationship and alignment with HR Operations in Argentina.
  • Works with Global Food HR, Business Partnering leadership teams and COE’s to help build an actionable people plan aligned to the enterprise and regional priorities. Focus on ensuring we are effectively identifying and developing leaders within the assigned business area. Works with Total Rewards and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure consistent application of pay across assigned business area. Leads organizational design discussions, and engagement survey action planning for assigned business area. Leads talent reviews for assigned business area, for roll-up into Group-wide talent & succession plans. Oversees the Recruitment, Career and Capability and Talent Management for all team members in the Commercial teams.
  • Advice and management of Labor Relations – strategy and execution. Advise, assist, coach and facilitate across all levels of the business on the resolution and management of workplace employee relations issues and disputes including staff performance, grievances and discipline.
  • Lead, develop, and provide strategic direction, and operational support, to direct reports and their teams.  Build HR capability and drive consistency in HR programs and process across the Commercial teams.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 8+ years related experience and/or training
  • Proven leadership of a team and experience working internationally, and ideally in Argentina or Mexico
  • Experience in developing people strategy and associated program management
  • Experience in the application of employment laws in the LATAM region
  • Ability to inspire, engage and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Experience in managing change that impacts the enterprise, region and individuals
  • Experience in Human Resource related business disciplines
  • Accessible, authentic and highly collaborative leader

The role partners the Vice President to support and manage the transformational shifts required to achieve the business strategy both within the function and enterprise wide.

 

Working closely with the HR Leadership team for Global Food, the LATAM regional leadership teams and HR Operations in Argentina, the role will drive companywide and functionally led initiatives in the areas of Culture, Talent & Succession, Leadership Development, Employee Experience & Engagement, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Systems & Employment Practices and Employee & Labor Relations.  The role requires the ability to work at a strategic level as well as provide strong operational support with payroll, systems, policies, and practices.  The role will also require extensive travel to and in the region, particularly to Argentina and Mexico, including spending quality time with the local leadership teams.  And whilst in Boise, being the contact for the local leadership teams and therefore working remotely to support strategically, operationally, and tactically all programs, practices and issues that may arise.  The benefit of being domiciled in Boise is close connection with the VP roles, Global Food HR and Global Services COE’s – creating a strong “working in a matrix” culture is paramount to achieve our dual objective for Global Food and “One Simplot”. The role is the primary lead to understand and roll out key ‘corporate’ policies, programs and projects in LATAM, e.g., MySimplot, Compensation policies and practices, changes in payroll etc.  Leadership with HR in Global Services is also required where there are Global Services employees in the region, to ensure alignment and coordination of employment practices.

 

The roles leads the local HR teams by coaching and supporting to ensure functional business objectives are met, and ensuring there is a consistent, excellent level of support for Leaders and team members.
