Summary
The Global Payroll Director is responsible for the strategic design, interaction, and maintenance of the entire payroll infrastructure. Ensures the consistent compliance with applicable Company policies and country, state, local, and federal statutes while ensuring the timely and accurate completion of Company payroll operations. Schedules, plans, and tracks ongoing payroll processes, system upgrades and related improvements across the business units and leads payroll expansion / improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Strategy:
- A trusted advisor to senior business leaders and their teams to identify, develop, and define critical strategic payroll and timekeeping initiatives that support business objectives and growth. Provide leadership for planned initiatives to ensure enacted as intended. Establish effective communication channels with HR, Finance, and other departments as needed to maintain alignment with organizational goals.
Audit and Compliance:
- In coordination with co-sourced provider, identify opportunities and risk at local, state, and country level and create a recommendation to address and mitigate. Monitor developments and ensure compliance with all local, national, and international payroll laws and regulations, acting with urgency and positive action to address issues immediately. Develop and execute an audit/review plan of payroll records and processes to confirm accuracy and compliance.
Payroll Processing and Vendor Management:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees across all countries of operation. Continuously assess and improve payroll processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Manage relationships with third party vendors/service providers to hold them accountable to service level agreements and compliance standards.
Leadership and Coaching:
- Models professional workplace attitudes and behaviors that contribute to a positive workplace climate, promotes open communication and trust within the work group, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. Sets, communicates, and enforces clear expectations for team performance, productivity, and interpersonal interactions. Works with staff to define and achieve group and individual goals in support of department, Total Rewards, and JRS objectives. Measures, monitors, and responds to targeted performance and productivity metrics.
Typical Education
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university in Business, Finance, HR or related degree
Relevant Experience
- 10+ years related experience and/or training
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
- Proficient with payroll and timekeeping software.
Required Certifications
- CPP, Certified Payroll Professional is preferred.
