Summary

This role is responsible for operating and maintaining all building infrastructure including, but not limited to all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, fire/life safety, elevator systems, kitchen management, security, janitorial, and landscaping services for the headquarters of the J. R. Simplot Company, Plant Sciences Complex, the Global Food Technical Center, the Corporate Aviation hangar, and other properties as assigned. The responsibilities include the maintenance of all building facades, grounds, parking management, mail services, shipments to and from business locations, together with any shipments/deliveries required by third-party tenants. The Facilities Director is responsible for contracting and budgeting for all internal and external resources necessary to operate, maintain and care for all properties. Also responsible for Simplot office facility improvements in North America and globally, as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages, contracts and monitors all internal and external teams of maintenance/utility/security personnel, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the HQ facility, Plant Sciences and Global Food Technical Center. 
  • Negotiates and manages all external vendor contracts for services that support building operations or oversees team in these outcomes.
  • Coordinates with Simplot’s Information Technology teams as needed (audio visual, telecom, data, and security) to schedule setup for events, equipment maintenance, repairs and upgrades. May lead or be closely coordinated with additional day-to-day facility activities, which may include incoming/outgoing mailing and shipping services, parking, and the re-stocking of supplies, etc.
  • Develops short and long-term budgets and manages internal and external activities to ensure adherence to budget.
  • Develops policies, procedures and schedules for routine annual preventative maintenance to ensure HQ and other sites’ infrastructure (i.e. HVAC, equipment, systems, lighting, janitorial services, workstation setup, landscaping, security, etc.) is operating at peak efficiency and to avoid any office or business disruption. 
  • Applies standardized systems and processes across all non-manufacturing work environments globally, including visitor management and physical security systems, security surveillance, workspace management, office and conference room furnishings, front desk security operations and service contract management. Ensures asset branding falls within Company brand guidelines.  
  • Develops CIPs and manages capital improvement projects as requested by the business or Simplot family, ensuring standardized processes are followed globally. 

Typical Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 10+ years related experience and/or training
  • Experience managing day-to-day operations of a large office facility with diverse uses (cafeteria, greenhouse, tenant space, office, lab, etc.).
  • This position requires mechanical skills, electrical skills, programming skills, familiarity with operating commercial HVAC systems including radiant cooling systems, and experience with operating and troubleshooting a centralized electronic building management system.
  • This position requires strong leadership, collaboration, communication and project management skills.
  • Comfort in working with senior leadership and property owners is a must, as is experience in leading and building effective teams.
