Digital Merchandising Associate Director

Summary

This position is responsible for developing and directing all digital merchandising and product content management activities within the Simplot Digital commerce organization. The position will collaborate with business unit teams, creative, communications, legal and others to develop and execute on a digital merchandising strategy along with its subsequent tactics to support our eCommerce evolution.

 

This role is a critical contributor in shaping and driving the overall search and merchandising strategy and roadmap while championing change and digital maturity. As a team leader, this role will mentor and manage a team of merchandising, search and promotions experts responsible for building and managing our eCommerce store and digital maturation of the Simplot organization while working directly with internal and external teams to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation, set product direction, and influence our development of a robust digital store.

 

Additionally, this individual will lead the implementation of a global product information management (PIM) platform and will be the business owner for that platform when it is live.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of product content management and merchandising professionals to create and implement a holistic search and merchandising strategy to enhance the shopping experience, drive order conversion, and increase average order value

  • Develop and manage 3rd party relationships to support product content to scale, implement and optimize product content and cross-merchandising strategies including personalized product recommendations, up/cross sell opportunities

  • Use analytics to uncover merchandising and search opportunities

  • Craft and manage a best in-class product assortment in partnership with business unit teams

  • Work across digital and BU teams to develop A/B tests to test merchandising and promotional elements

  • Increase revenue per session, product engagement and conversion rate

  • Develop, track, and manage to specific performance KPI goals

  • Report on year over year growth goals, identify areas for change

  • Implement and manage a PIM platform for the organization.

Typical Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Marketing, Merchandising or related area from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 15+ years related experience and/or training
  • Strong leadership and abilities to partner across multiple organizations and build credibility with key executive and business leadership teams across divisions.  Manage portfolio of work streams within Product Content Management and Digital Merchandising groups.  
  • Expertise managing PIM platforms from a business user / owner perspective
  • Proficient in ecommerce technologies and processes. Experience with Salesforce Commerce platform strongly preferred
  • Track record of success in:
    • eCommerce site/portal design and working with (digital) marketing teams
    • Category strategy development in the digital space
  • Creative problem solving
  • Data synthesis and communications – turning data into actionable insight
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Significant experience leading teams, whether directly or indirectly, to consistently deliver valuable results.
  • Innovative leader with the ability to identify opportunities and influence organizations to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion.
  • Ability to utilize exceptional problem-solving skills to work through complex challenges
