Digital Ag Specialist

Summary

The Digital Agriculture Specialist will work under the supervision of the Senior Digital Ag Specialist to support the implementation of strategic data-centric and technology-based products and services that will improve the overall profitability and competitiveness of stakeholder organizations including Simplot L&L, Global Food, Global Agriculture, and Simplot Plant Sciences.

To be considered, candidates must be local and/or willing to work in Treasure Valley (Southwestern Idaho) region. This role will require travel up to 50% throughout the field sites within the Treasure Valley region.

Key Responsibilities

• Install/maintain/service various precision agriculture sensors including soil moisture sensors, crop yield monitors, and other on-farm telemetry systems.
• Advise on-farm and business stakeholders on best practices to support data quality efforts.
• Support various data collection efforts via a variety of systems including John Deere Operations Center, PTx Trimble Ag Software, etc.
• Perform testing of internal web applications designed to deliver data visualizations and A.I. digital products to non-technical stakeholders.
• Serve as a liaison between on-farm/business stakeholders and software engineers/data scientists to support the development of next-generation digital agriculture products.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

1+ years related experience and/or training

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a 4-year college or university, preferred in agronomy or ag business. (Equivalent experience of education and experience will be considered for meeting the minimum requirements of the role). Must have strong agronomic experience and computer skills. Excellent problem solving and time management skills to ensure stakeholders and other staff have the foundation needed to provide solutions to the customer. Ability to effectively build rapport, communicate with, and work cohesively with employees at all levels of the business.
