DevOps Engineer

Summary

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for automating, scaling, and optimizing the development, testing, and deployment pipelines. You will collaborate with software engineers and other IT staff members to manage code releases and ensure the seamless operation of applications and services. You will focus on creating efficient systems, troubleshooting operational issues, and continuously improving infrastructure and processes. Most importantly you will guide, educate, and document DevOps practices to enable and grow the software engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated software delivery.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate DevOps practices into the software development lifecycle.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability and scalability.
• Manage and optimize cloud environments (Azure) and on-premise infrastructure (OpenShift).
• Implement security best practices for DevOps processes, including data encryption, access control, and vulnerability management.
• Automate routine tasks and configuration management.
• Maintain, upgrade, and manage containerization platforms like Podman and Buildah and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• Support the release process by working closely with development teams to improve deployment speed and reliability.
• Assist in the incident response process, including root cause analysis and resolution.
• Automate static code analysis using tools like SonarQube.
• Maintain documentation on new and existing DevOps implementations and practices.
• Present and train the software engineering organization on DevOps innovations, best practices, and implementations.

Typical Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Relevant Experience

• 5+ years related experience and/or training
• Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or similar role.
• Strong experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI, or Travis CI.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
• Solid understanding of version control systems (Git, SVN).
• Knowledge of scripting and automation (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with event driven architecture, microservices architecture, and serverless computing.
• Knowledge of database management systems and SQL.
• Experience with security tools and practices in DevOps environments.
