Summary
The Procurement Senior Category Manager is a commercial fertilizer role that focuses on procuring crop nutrition fertilizers to our Simplot Grower Solutions locations. A successful candidate will possess extensive fertilizer experience in either sales or procurement, ability to build and sustain long term supplier relationships, bring a strategic approach to evaluating needs, executing based on market conditions and ultimately build trust and credibility through multiple levels of internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops strategic procurement plan that incorporates local, regional and global supply and demand factors.
- Consistently peruse and evaluate new supply options, to include but not limited to: new suppliers, freight options, origins etc.
- Actively seek out, interpret and communicate market information from internal and external sources. Work closely with key internal stakeholders to provide an opinion of current and forward market conditions and plan to best procure needs based on demand forecast.
- Manages strategic vendor relationships and performance to ensure delivery of service, quality, cost and supply commitments.
- Maintain a detailed approach to managing positions, supply agreements and various location needs.
Typical Education
Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university (or equivalent experience)
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training
Required Certifications
Other Information
- Knowledge of fertilizer trading, various domestic river markets
- Understanding of domestic and international supply and demand for crop nutrition fertilizer
- Knowledge/experience in a commercial/procurement role
- Knowledge working in business or functional unit supported by the category High degree of industry experience in the specific category areas
- MS Office
- Good sales, presentation, negotiation and market data/analysis skills
- Strategic Cost Management
- Depending on experience could be a senior level position.

Wage range or rate of pay: $110-170k Plus annual incentive plan eligibility
