Summary

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with Professional Products customers, distributors and end users, to promote the sale of BEST and or Apex, Gal-Xe, FUSN and other fertilizers products. This role develops regional sales strategies to distinguish Simplot from competitors and makes recommendations on price establishment. The position monitors product availability, delivery and resolves product problems. Additionally, the Division Sales Manager works with other ASM to set goals and facilitate sales plans.

The Area Sales Manager will be responsible for the Pacific Northwest and Hawaii including; Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Canada (British Columbia), and Hawaii. The ideal candidate will preferably reside anywhere in Oregon or Washington.

Key Responsibilities

  • Additional Key Activities: Resolves problems that have occurred in pricing, shipping or delivery. Performs administrative duties, preparing reports and developing budget inputs.
  • Performs public speaking at professional seminars and association gatherings. Participates in sales meetings, training sessions and seminars to stay abreast of current marketing and sales information and products.
  • Coordinates sales and marketing programs throughout their territory in all market segments.
  • Maintains contact and build relationships with distributors and their sales force through written sales reports, sales calls, email and telephone contact.
  • Positions Simplot products into marketplace through direct contact with end users (golf course superintendents, landscapers, cities and municipalities, blender partners and nurseries,).
  • Develops sales plans, coordinating activities with other area managers.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • Ten plus years related experience and/or training. In depth knowledge of Simplot/BEST and or Apex products, as well as assigned area turfgrass and or nursery market.

Other Information

  • Understanding of the complexity of distribution marketing.
  • Sales skills, organizational skills and the ability to delineate and share these with others.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills essential.
  • Able to be self motivated and work without direct supervision.
  • An advanced understanding of fertilizer sales and marketing functions.
  • Ability to communicate and work with other sales individuals.
  • Combination of education, training and/or experience will be considered for this position.
  • Ability to travel 60% of the time
