About Our Role

Simplot Australia are currently seeking applications for an experienced Canteen Worker/Kitchen Hand, to work in our industry leading manufacturing facility in Echuca. 

The Echuca site harks back to 1978 when it was originally owned by Plumrose, who commenced operating it as a tomato paste plant, which is still a core part of our operations. However, today the site also produces products under our Leggo’s, Edgell, Chicken Tonight, Raguletto and Harvest brands.

Reporting to our Canteen Supervisor, the successful candidate will work within our busy site based canteen providing a full range of breakfast, lunch, evening meals & site catering in a safe, hygienic and timely manner whilst also providing a high level of customer service.

This permanent part-time position will commence immediately with set work hours across a Monday-Friday 09:30 - 14:30.

What You Will Do

• Provide Kitchen Hand duties, including but not limited to: hand washing dishes and operating a dishwasher
• Assist with food preparation
• Support for site based functions and events
• Adhere to the canteen food safety management plan
• Ensure that a high level of quality and customer service levels are offered to site based staff within the agreed canteen operating times
• Operations of a cash register
• Ensure high standards of cleanliness & hygiene are continued to meet internal quality and food safety policies.
• Ordering of stock where required + unloading / packing of received stock items

About You

• 100% commitment to health and safety in the workplace
• Passionate about preparation of quality meals (experience in a canteen or café environment would be an advantage) Possess excellent customer service skills
• Numerical competency and the ability to use a cash register / till / EFTPOS terminal
• Reliability with the ability to work independently
• A high level of energy & enthusiasm for the position, whilst assisting with the continuous improvement of the Canteen facility
• Possess a safe food handling or food hygiene certificate (or willing to obtain)
• Possess a cooking related trade certification (would be advantageous)
